1977
In March, the company was founded in Xinzhuang, Taipei, under the original name “Shan Hsiang Co., Ltd.”, with 14 employees. The storefront produced and sold traditional baked pastries such as peach crisps and abalone crisps. Later, Hong Kong technology was introduced, adopting gas-fired handmade egg roll techniques, and the company began the production and sales of “Serena Egg Rolls.”
1978
To meet the growing market demand for egg rolls, the company rented an old three-section compound factory in Xizhou, Changhua County, and began large-scale manual production.
1979
As the business expanded and product lines increased, the company invested in the construction of the Nantou factory, producing the Serena series of biscuits. Egg roll production lines were expanded, and an electric hand-cooked egg roll machine was developed to meet the large market demand.
1980
The company collaborated technically with Nissin Foods Co., Ltd. (Japan) to develop “Vegetable Crackers,” focusing on health and nutrition.
1981
The Xizhou factory was expanded, and the world’s first fully automatic egg roll cooking machine was developed, greatly reducing labor and costs, making the company the largest professional egg roll manufacturer in Taiwan.
1982
Serena Egg Rolls, Sesame Egg Rolls, and Vegetable Crackers won the 21st Monde Selection Gold Medal.
Bailing Biscuits, Mei-Tian Biscuits, Lemon Pie, and Xiang Tsui Biscuits received Silver Medals.
1983
Serena Sesame Egg Rolls and Vegetable Crackers won the 22nd Monde Selection Grand Gold Medal.
1984
In January, the company officially changed its name to “Serena Foods Incorporation”, with the trademark becoming the company name.
1985
In June, product lines were expanded and the Nantou beverage factory was constructed to produce mineral water and Tetra Pak juice and tea beverages. At the same time, the company signed a cooperation agreement with GENERAL MILLS INC. (USA), granting exclusive rights to produce “Golden Horn Corn Snacks” in Taiwan. In July of the same year, the Jiaoxi factory was established to expand the supply of mineral water and related beverages.
1986
In August, renowned Taiwanese entrepreneur Mr. Chang Kuo-An took over management of the company, further strengthening its operations.
1987
The beverage production line was integrated into the Jiaoxi factory.
1988
V-Kang Mineral Water sponsored the Taipei International Marathon.
1991
In March, to strengthen management and product competitiveness, the Jiaoxi factory was merged into the Nantou beverage factory, with improvements to equipment and management systems.
1992
In July, the juice beverage line at the Nantou factory received GMP certification.
1993
A seasoned seaweed production line was added.
1994
A puffed fruit snack production line was added.
1995
Mr. Chang Hung-Chia assumed the position of chairman, leading Serena Foods into a new era.
In June, business policies were adjusted, discontinuing mineral water and juice production.
The company was honored with a World Gold Medal in Lisbon, Portugal.
1996
In May, the Xizhou egg roll factory was merged into the Nantou factory.
In July, the egg roll production line applied for GMP certification from the Industrial Development Bureau and received certification in December.
1997
In July, the frying production line at the Nantou factory completed all GMP-required equipment and process adjustments and also received certification in December.
1999
In September, the 921 Earthquake caused damage to the biscuit line at the Nantou factory, and reconstruction work began.
2000
In August, Daokou Crisp Biscuits were launched.
2001
In June, Cup-style Seven-Flavor Golden Horn Corn Snacks were launched.
2002
In March, Coconut-flavored Crisps were launched.
In June, Choco-Fu Waffles were launched.
2003
In February, the 1st Serena Children’s Creative Coloring Contest was held.
In April, Scallion Egg Rolls were launched.
In May, Dipping Sauce Golden Horn Corn Snacks were launched.
In December, the company collaborated with Seattle Coffee to produce a Seattle Coffee Egg Roll Gift Box, sold through 7-Eleven, marking the beginning of cross-industry partnerships.

In December, Mandheling Coffee Egg Roll Gift Boxes were launched.
2005
In January, the company collaborated with the popular girl group S.H.E to launch a limited-edition S.H.E Egg Roll Gift Box.
In September, the company sponsored Dharma Drum Mountain’s inauguration and developed the Peace Biscuit.
2006
In April, the head office relocated to the Fengda Building on Dunhua North Road, Taipei.
In November, the company acquired the exclusive Hello Kitty egg roll license.

Monascus egg rolls and other wellness-oriented products were developed and received great market feedback.

In June, the company expanded product lines and purchased a Japanese egg roll machine.
In December, NT$10 million product liability insurance was applied to all products.
